My way of working is underpinned by an acknowledgement that our lives are complex and the challenges we all face are significant.
Experiences and relationships deeply impact on our development and identity as we progress through the journey of life. Difficult experiences and traumas may over time be expressed in a variety of ways and develop into particular mental health struggles.
The way we learn to manage and cope with these challenges may often help us in the short term, however, can have significant costs in the long run. This may include avoidance of particular issues and events, or developing unhelpful ways of managing distressing emotions in order to feel better. Over time, such patterns can begin to get in the way of a healthy and happy life.
